VINEYARD.jpg

We are proud to announce our partnership
with the following wineries.

Arundel

Arundel was built around an acre of Cabernet and Shiraz, planted in the 1970's but abandoned. When the Conwell family purchased the property in the early 1990's, the vineyard was resurrected and the first vintage was made by Rick Kinzbrunner in '95. Thereafter the cabernet was grafted over to shiraz, the block slowly increased to 1.6 ha, and an additional 4 ha of shiraz and 1.6 ha of viognier and mersanne was planted.

Celestial Bay

Celestial Bay is situated in Wilyabrup of the Margaret River region located on Metricup Road 2km west from the Bussell Highway. Originally a dairy farm, Celestial Bay comprises 52 hectares that feature all the necessary characteristics for successful viticulture- good soil, a moderate maritime climate and a reliable rainfall. Inspired by a fierce passion for winemaking, perfectionists Michael and Kim O’Brien purchased the land in 1999 with the goal to produce exclusive, boutique wines of outstanding quality.

In the vineyard, grapes are grown in a mixture of red brown alluvial loam, gravelly loam and mungite soils. Climatically, the proximity of the Indian Ocean creates a unique maritime environment that eliminates temperature extremes throughout the summer, facilitating full flavour ripening of the fruit.

The name Celestial Bay is derived from the indigenous meaning of Metricup, the road on which the winery is located. For the local aborigines, metricup means ‘a place where ghosts dwell.’ From this, Celestial Bay was born; a synergy of earth, moon, sun and water.

De Bortoli

De Bortoli Wines is a family-owned wine company established in 1928 by Vittorio De Bortoli. The winemaking team is overseen by third generation winemaker Darren De Bortoli and his brother-in-law Steve Webber.

The winemaking philosophy is that great wine begins in the vineyard and that the winemaker should use minimal handling and interference in the winery. Wine should have a sense of regionality and be an expression of the soil in which it is grown. Our winemakers strive to create wines that they find interesting and exciting - wines that may be quirky or unusual but wines that above all have provenance and a sense of place.

De Bortoli has wineries in diverse wine growing regions, each with its own regional style, as well as vineyards in the King Valley. The Bilbul winery produces the acclaimed Noble One, world class fortified wines and premium varietal and sparkling wines. The relatively cool climate Yarra Valley is known for the classic varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon, Riesling and Viognier. The Hunter Valley is famous for its distinctive Semillon and Shiraz styles which have character, personality and the ability to age gracefully. The King Valley is rapidly developing a reputation for its Mediterranean varietal wines including Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Pinot Grigio.

Forty Acre

Forty Acre Wines is located in Gisborne, Victoria, in the shadow of Mount Macedon. The winery and surrounding area are blessed with the presence of native birds, kangaroos and gorgeous scenic views.
The climate of the Macedon Ranges produces some of the best cool-climate wines in Australia, equalling those of New Zealand and Burgundy in France. Forty Acre’s simple philosophy is to make quality handcrafted wines with minimal intervention. This is achieved by only using the best quality grapes available from the region.
Winemaker Rod Drysdale’s discovery of wine started in the late 1980’s when he travelled through Southern France. He witnessed the pride restaurants maintained for the house wine they offered and the passion the people possessed for their regional wines. He came to see wine as a way of life, an ingredient integral to good living. Upon returning to Australia, Rod sort to relive his French experience in Australia.

After completing wine studies at BRIT under the respected winemaker Mal Stewart, Rod became a part-time apprentice at Big Shed Wines in Central Victoria to Dr Ken Jones, the renowned Professor from Edinburgh University. Since establishing Forty Acre Wines, Rod has continued to please drinkers with his superb wines.

Frazer Woods

Frazer Woods is a small family-owned vineyard in the heart of the world-renowned Willyabrup district of the Margaret River wine region. In recent years, Frazer Woods has begun to focus on the production of a range of quality sparkling wines. This has been aided by the input and influence of the legendary Harold Osborne, who has been involved in producing traditionally made sparkling wines in California for decades and was also responsible for the development and refinement of the Pelorus wines made at Cloudy Bay in New Zealand. John Frazer and Harold embarked on the project of setting up a specialized facility for the traditional production of "methode Champenoise" (as they make it in the Champagne region of France). John now runs the only facility of its type in WA, looking after the sparkling wine requirements of a number of well-known wineries.

Frazer Woods has produced a diverse range of wines from their own and other vineyards. The range now consists of an elegantly refined Pinot Chardonnay, a rich and complex Shiraz, a luscious sparkling Shiraz and a truly unique sparkling white Shiraz fittingly named Syrah Blanc.

All of the wines are made using traditional methods to produce wines of class and complexity that fit in with today’s Australian lifestyle, food and drinking habits.

Galli Estate

The Galli Estate vineyard was established in 1997 and occupies 100 acres at Rockbank, in the renowned Sunbury Wine Region of Victoria. With its rich, red volcanic soil, attention to detail in vine management and low yield targets, the estate is highly successful in producing premium quality wines. Although only a relatively new winery, Galli Estate has already been recognised for outstanding quality in Australian wine shows, receiving Gold and Bronze medals for Cabernet Sauvignon, Gold for Pinot Grigio, three Bronze for Shiraz, as well as Bronze for Chardonnay and Sangiovese. Galli Estate's commitment to quality will ensure it offers outstanding wines with distinctive varietal characters, from the excellent Victorian wine regions of Sunbury and Heathcote.

Winemaker Stephen Phillips joined Galli Estate in late 2001 for the 2002 vintage and is its first full-time winemaker. He graduated from Roseworthy in 1992 and has previous winemaking experience in the Hunter Valley and, just prior to joining Galli Estate, with Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley. Steve has also worked in Europe, completing vintages in France, Hungary and Bulgaria, as well in other premium Australian wine regions such as Coonawarra, Margaret River, Mount Barker and Mornington. His particular winemaking interests lie in the mysteries of Pinot Noir and cool climate Shiraz.

Hanging Rock

Hanging Rock Winery is located just north of the famous Hanging Rock landmark, only a 55 minute drive from Melbourne in The Macedon Ranges Wine region of Victoria, Australia. The winery sits on The Jim Jim, a hill facing Hanging Rock.

Hanging Rock was established in 1983 by John and Ann Ellis. Their flagship wine is the sparkling 'Macedon', a rich, complex, dry-finishing Champagne style sparkling unashamedly modeled on the non-vintage wines of Krug and Bollinger.

Jindalee Estate

Jindalee Estate is a proudly family-owned and operated Australian winery. All of Jindalee’s wines are made and bottled on their own estate. This stems from their philosophy that wines should be tended from vine to bottle; nurturing their inherent characters and ensuring they reach their full potential.

The Estate’s fruit-driven, fresh style reflects the raw nature of the Australian environment. This is evident in the winery’s claim to ‘cultivate a little wildness in every bottle;’ a claim which also highlights the passion and joi-de-vivre these winemakers posses.

Jindalee wines reflect both warm and cool climate tonal variations. You can taste the warmth in their full-bodied wines, from the sun-drenched Murray-Darling region. The complex, well-balanced characters of our Fetter’s Rest wines are indicative of the cooler climes of the Geelong region.

Long Gully Estate

When Reiner and Irma Klapp purchased their 45 hectare property in the picturesque foothills of the Great Dividing Range on 'Long Gully Road', just west of Healesville, they had no idea that 25 years later they would be major contributors to the rebirth of the wine industry in the Yarra Valley.

The initial planting was a total of only 2.2 hectares consisting of Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Further planting of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Voignier have brought the total to nearly 30 hectares. Long Gully Estate is today seen as one of the larger boutique vineyards in the Yarra Valley, crushing between 200 to 300 tonnes of grapes every vintage.
The vineyard features a western facing slope which aids in the drainage of cold air on frosty mornings (katabatic winds). The steady daily (usually from the S.E.) wind up the gully has proven to be an added bonus in the fight against vine disease as it keeps the foliage cool and dry in moist, humid conditions.

At Long Gully, a number of tasks are still done by hand in the vineyard such as pruning and picking and some cultivation. This is expensive, but important in maintaining the vineyard’s high quality output. Wherever possible, Long Gully prefers to use organic methods in their vineyard so as to reduce the need for herbicides and pesticides. .
Long Gully Estate is a family-owned and operated boutique winery with a determination to produce wines that are at the top pf their class. They have achieved International recognition in wine competitions, having been awarded 5 Trophies, 50 Gold Medals, 66 Silver Medals and 152 Bronze Medals. The Long Gully motto: Life is too short to drink bad wine.

Pfeiffer Wines

The vineyard lies within Wahgunyah, in the Rutherglen region of North East Victoria, a large diverse, wine growing region.

There are two vineyards. The original vineyard is our "Sunday Creek" vineyard, which borders on the Murray River. When purchased the property was 25 acres in size, and is now 55 acres. This vineyard produces Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Portuguese Port varieties (including Touriga nacional), Muscat, Tokay, Frontignac and Pinot Noir.

The second vineyard is the "Carlyle" vineyard purchased in the early 1990's, a neighbouring property. This vineyard is 25 acres in size and is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Muscat, Tokay and Cabernet Sanzey.

Winemaker Chris Pfeiffer graduated from Sydney University in 1974 with a BSc. of agriculture, majoring in horticulture. In the same year he began work with Lindemans winery at Corowa, and commenced a five year part-time course with the Riverina College of Advanced Education (now Charles Sturt University), graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Wine Science. During this six year period he was offered and accepted positions at Lindemans Corowa and Coonawarra wineries and also worked a vintage in the Hunter River region, when he held a role in head office. When Lindemans moved out of the Corowa district in 1980 he moved to the company's Karadoc winery in Mildura as chief fortified winemaker, responsible for production in Corowa, Mildura and the Barossa Valley.

In 1984 Chris and Robyn purchased the property in Distillery Road, Wahgunyah where they were to become masters of their own destiny. 18 years later, they make a range of 19 wines under their Pfeiffer label and seven under their premium export and retail label, Carlyle. "We began as a family business and we strive to maintain that as we grow, always committed to the quality of the product we produce."

Rosnay

On the south bank of the Belubula River, just downstream from the historic village of Canowindra, NSW, is an organic vineyard and olive grove called "Rosnay". Its deep red gravelly clay soils have been transformed by over a decade of organic and biodynamic farming by former woolgrowers, Richard and Florence Statham and their sons. Rosnay is a founding member of the unique Rivers Road Organic Farms. It is now the source of premium quality, hand made organic wines and olives.

No artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides have been applied to the vines and trees since planting in 1997, and the soil has been revived through cell grazing, composting, groundcover, and major tree plantings. Proving that soil quality is intrinsic to product quality; the first Rosnay label Shiraz was judged best red wine in the Cowra region in 2002, with all the wines being of consistent quality since.

The name Rosnay is taken from Florence Statham's mother, whose maiden name was Dolly Dulong de Rosnay. Dolly is now 89 years old and still living on the farm.

Ross Estate

When you first visit the Barossa Valley you obtain an overwhelming feeling of old-world charm and a rich, colourful history. You’ll find the idyllic lifestyle is alluring, community pride unsurpassed and of course, most famously, world class wines.

And in the midst of all this lies Ross Estate Wines, a family owned winery, creating traditional boutique wines from century old vineyards, handcrafted in a modern state-of-the-art facility.

The story of Ross Estate dates back (as far as can be ascertained) to the end of the 19th century when it was a general farm with vineyards and a cemetery. In that cemetery lies William Jacob who, with his brother John, in 1885 established the Barossa Valley’s first vineyard and winery. Nearby is Hoffnungsthal, the site of the first Silesian settlement (1847) where the small farming community worked hard to establish themselves only to be defeated by floods.

Current owners, Darius and Pauline Ross, fell in love with the 110 acre property in the early 90’s and invested in their life long passion for wine. Together, after years of hard work, they have created a splendid estate. Darius designed the Polish inspired winery and cellar door, surrounded by lawns and rose gardens. The winery opened its doors just prior to the 1998 vintage and soon after a beautiful sandstone cellar door complete with private tasting room was added.

With extensive knowledge from former winemaker Rod Chapman, current senior winemaker Neville Falkenberg, of Penfold’s fame, and budding young winemaker Alex Peel, Ross Estate Wines has set the benchmark for boutique winemaking and continually producing award winning wines of outstanding consistent quality.
